Throughout 2024, we’ve been hinting at some big changes being in the works here at IPSE. Now, after months of planning, testing and fine-tuning, we’re proud to unveil our biggest transformation in over a decade.
If you’re reading this, you’ll have already noticed our refreshed look and feel. But as we explain in this blog, there’s even more to discover under the bonnet.
Since its founding 25 years ago, IPSE has grown from a single-issue campaign group to a membership organisation offering advice, protection and representation to self-employed professionals in all kinds of occupations.
Because of this, we know that self-employment rarely follows a linear path and that what you need from us will change from time to time. When this happens, we want you to feel confident that you can make those changes quickly and easily, so you can get on with running your business.
So, from today, IPSE members now have access to all of their membership details, subscriptions and events in one easy-to-use dashboard. You’ll have the ability to manage your membership with options to upgrade, change payment details, renew and more, without having to contact us. After all, who better to make changes to your membership, than you?
We also know that self-employed professionals have different needs at different points in their journeys, and that not everything we do will be right for all people at all times. Instead, we want to offer a more tailored experience to everyone who interacts with us, whether you’re a longstanding member or just meeting us for the first time.
To do this, we’ve reorganised our communications to make them more customisable. From today, our email subscribers can pick which emails they receive from us based on what matters most to them.
Whether you just want to be notified about upcoming IPSE events or you’re mainly interested in our campaigning in Westminster, you’ll now be able to tell us which parts of IPSE you want to hear about. Furthermore, those without an IPSE membership can now create a free account on our website where they’ll be able to access exclusive content and control their preferences.
Our members range from new starters to seasoned experts working in all kinds of occupations with different operating models. Whilst serving such a diverse membership, some of the information and advice we publish will inevitably be more or less relevant to you, depending on your circumstances.
After running surveys and focus groups with IPSE members and non-members to better understand what you like – and don’t like – about us, many of you told us that you valued the content of our website, but that it wasn’t always easy to find exactly what you were looking for.
With this in mind, we wanted to make your time on our website as straightforward and productive as possible; so, we’ve invested in revamping our website to be more interactive and customisable. You’ll now be able to search for articles, advice, downloads and other resources more efficiently by using our new content filters to find what you need without having to sift through things you aren’t interested in.
Last, but by no means least, is a refreshed look and feel for IPSE – one that stays true to our 25 year history whilst better reflecting our current membership, as well as appealing to even more of the UK’s hugely diverse self-employed sector.
IPSE is best known for being an experienced advocate for the self-employed. We place value before profit, offering a unique blend of resources, benefits, advocacy and a community-led approach. We lead with expertise, campaign with authority, and celebrate success – to make a genuine difference to the lives of the self-employed.
But many of you told us that our old look no longer reflected who we really are – a group of approachable experts with a genuine desire to help you succeed in self-employment.
By updating how we look and sound to the outside world, we want to bring more of our own unique personality into the essential work we’ve performed for the past 25 years – backing the self-employed and supporting them to lead successful, fulfilling careers.
